Takano may not be a brand that one would easily recognise as they have been forgotten by time. They hold special historical significance as the watchmaker was the one behind the first automatic movement for Ricoh, one of the pioneers of the Japanese watch industry. Even though Takano only operated to 1962, they were formed way back in 1899 and were producing table clocks back then.
This particular Takano Precision rainproof was made in their earlier days, and as such, houses a hand-wound movement from Durowe. Featuring a grey dial with a reflective finish, dauphine style hands and a smooth sweeping second hand, this is definitely an eye-catching piece. Although it was not rated for water resistance, the name 'rainproof' suggested that a light splash or a walk in the rain would not damage the watch.
It is rare and unique, and tells a story. If you are looking for a piece of history and a conversation starter, this watch is one to add to your collection.
All watches are preloved or vintage, so please expect signs of user marks, aging, and wear that commensurate with the age of the watch. For more photos and details, please contact us.
