A relatively unknown, yet significant brand, Eterna was the company that invented the ball-bearings solution that is still used in today's automatic movements. While the brand got eventually sold to a Hong Kong conglomerate, they still hold a place in watchmaking history.
Today's timepiece for sale is the Eterna Matic Ref. 568.6028.58. The name 'Eterna Matic' was given to all their watches that run on the automatic movement that they invented to solve the problem of wear and tear due to the friction between the watch components. A subtle nod to the five tiny ball bearing that gives the rotor support and balance can be seen on the five dots on the 12 o'clock position of the watch.
With a clean silver linen brushed dial, stick hour markers and hands, this timepiece is a beautiful vintage example of a classic dress watch for anyone with a smaller wrist. It also features an elegant integrated bracelet, seamlessly blending with the case, creating a polished look. The end of the bracelet sits the original clasp.
